FAQS
Is my child too young for surfskate lessons in the bowl?
Age definitely plays a role because surfskating requires coordination and control, but it really depends on the child. Around 6+ can work if they’ve had some surf or skate experience. For complete beginners, 8–9 years is usually a better starting point. We always recommend starting with the right level of support so kids feel safe and confident from the beginning.
Is this program only for high-performance surfers?
No — it’s actually for both. Some kids are training with long-term goals and want to progress into higher-level surfing, while others are just here to have fun, build confidence, and enjoy being in the water and on a surfskate. Ryan adjusts coaching based on each child, so they’re supported wherever they’re at.
What are the benefits of surfskating for kids, beyond surfing?
Surfskating helps kids build balance, coordination, confidence, and body awareness in a really fun way. It also teaches focus and resilience through repetition and progression.
A big part of it is having a supportive male mentor in Ryan, who helps guide kids through challenges, build confidence, and develop trust in their own ability, both in and out of the water.
Is this just a surf program or a mix of activities?
It’s a mix of both surf and surfskate training, which keeps things fun, varied, and engaging. Kids aren’t just sitting in the ocean waiting for waves, they’re actively learning movement, technique, and flow in different environments.
What do kids do during school holiday programs in Noosa?
During school holidays, we run structured surf and surfskate sessions that keep kids active, outdoors, and learning new skills. It’s a great option for families looking for fun, skill-based activities in Noosa that build confidence in the water and on land.
Do kids need experience to join?
No prior experience is needed. We group and coach kids based on ability, so complete beginners are fully supported, and more experienced kids are challenged appropriately.
